Profiles & History

I intend to profile a shooter each month so keep watching this page. We have some characters out there that will share the serious and the light hearted. The good times and the troubles times of shooting. The clays they broke and the clays they lost. It's going to be good fun. If you should know one of our veterans drop me a line and I will get hold of him. Their experience can only add to our love of Clay Target Shooting.

I thought I would start with some history.

1st International Springbok Team

This Skeet Team went to Wiesbaden in 1966
Left to right: Cyril Emphy, Chris Oberholzer ( Manager), Simon Gander, Robin Mattison, Hein Peeters.

Is there anyone out there who can help us with more information about them?????

1st South African Skeet Championships in 1952.
Winning Team SAFTC. Names from left to right back row: Wim Peeters, Willem van der Byl, Charlie Thompson. Front: Jack Ferguson, Hein Peeters. Winners of the Ellis Brown Trophy.
The club’s ranges were at that time in Aeroton. In February 1937 it was proposed that Mr. J.R. Thurlow and Mr. F.L. Keeny should negotiate with the Crown Mine authorities regarding the use of the shooting range by the SAFT Club. In April of that year Mr. Keeny reported that negotiations were successful. The rental for the ground would be six guineas a year. The existing range at Aeroton would be maintained at a fee of one guinea a year in case it would be required for practice.
Can anyone out there tell us more about the the gents mentioned in this writeup in the Golden Jubilee Magazine.
I do have to apologize that there is no photo attached but Blogger is having a bit of a crisis and so for the mean time there will be no visuals.
